Step 1. Go to the item canvas
Click the menu icon on the top left of your screen. Click Item Bank or Tests in the main menu. Select a group and click the name of an existing item/test or create a new item. The canvas opens on a new page.
Step 2. Drag the component
Click and drag the Choice icon from the toolbar onto the canvas. If you're on the Test canvas, click the Components tab in the toolbar first to access the Choice icon.
Step 3. Add a title
This step is optional. Click the title text to open a side panel. Enter the title of the question. Set the style of the text and then click Save.
Step 4. Set up your choices
Click the text of a choice to open a side panel, enter the text, and click Save. Click the plus icon to add more choices and click the remove icon to delete them.
Step 5. Open the properties
Click the component and then click the pencil icon that appears beside it to open a side panel. Select Yes or No in the Show Title drop-down. If you select No, the title disappears from the canvas.
Step 6. Select a style
Single displays radio buttons for selecting one answer. Multiple displays checkboxes for selecting one or more answers. Drop-down displays a list for selecting one answer.
Step 7. Enter the correct answer
Enter the correct answer to your question.
Step 8. Randomize the choices
Turn on the Randomized switch to randomly reorder the choices.
Step 9. Select the scoring mode
Single value means that in the next step, you'll set the number of points for the question. Multiple values removes the option to set points here. Points are instead assigned to each choice, so each one can be worth a different number of points to allow for partial scoring.
Step 10. Assign points
Enter the number of points this question is worth. If you chose multiple values in step 9, this option won't appear. Click Save to close the overlay and click a choice to assign points.
Step 11. Style the choice text
Set the style of text to apply to all of the choices you've added. Click Save to close the side panel.
Step 12. Resize and position
Click and drag the corner of the component to resize the width. Click and drag the component to re-position it on the canvas.
Step 13. Preview and save
Click the Preview button to see how it will appear when a user is taking your test and then click Save once you're happy with your Choice component.
