Step 1. Go to the item canvas
Click the menu icon on the top left of your screen. Click Item Bank or Tests in the main menu. Select a group and click the name of an existing item/test or create a new item. The canvas opens on a new page.
Step 2. Drag component
Click and drag the Numeric icon from the toolbar onto the canvas. If you're on the Test canvas, click the Components tab in the toolbar first to access the Numeric icon.
Step 3. Add title
This step is optional. Click the title text to open a side panel. Enter the title of the question. Set the style of the text and then click Save.
Step 4. Open properties
Click the component and then click the pencil icon that appears beside it to open a side panel. Select Yes or No in the Show Title drop-down. If you select No, the title disappears from the canvas.
Step 5. Set decimal value
Enter a number in the Decimal Value field. For example, if you're asking a question about money, the decimal value would be 2 so you can include dollars and cents.
Step 6. Set min and max values
Enter the minimum and maximum values. Users can't submit answers lower or higher than these values. Make sure these include the number of digits after the decimal that you set as the decimal value.
Step 7. Enter correct answer
Enter the correct answer to your question. Make sure to include the number of digits after the decimal that you set in the decimal value.
Step 8. Assign points
Enter the number of points this question is worth. There's no partial scoring, so if you assign five points and the user answers incorrectly, they'll lose all five points. Click Save to close the side panel.
Step 9. Resize and position
Click and drag the corner of the number box to resize the width. Click and drag the number box to re-position it on the canvas.
Step 10. Preview and save
Click the Preview button to see how it will appear when a user is taking your test and then click Save once you're happy with your Numeric component.
You could add multiple number boxes to one question like the example below:
