Career Path is a tool for employees to plan their careers in your organization. As company structures become less rigid, the way to develop career paths within a company is not always clearly defined. For instance, an employee can have an end goal in mind to become an account executive in sales but not be sure of how to get there from their current position. It can be difficult to determine what skill gaps may be preventing advancement, or what learning resources and competencies are necessary. Career Path makes this process simple, so employees can focus on their own development.
Users select jobs on an interactive map to explore their options based on organizational hierarchy. Each new list of jobs is at the next level up in the organization and a percentage shows you how well your profile matches the requirements.
If you've already figured out where you want to go, skip exploring and add your target role. Three possible paths are generated. Select the one you want to follow, and you're all set.
Your current role, next step, and target are displayed in the Profile header. This summarizes your career path. You can always refer to the Career Path to see which areas to work on or to explore a new path in your organization.
For employees, career paths allow them to explore their career options in a structured manner with clear developmental goals. Once you’ve set a career path, you can add targeted learning resources, target competency levels, educational and certification requirements, and more. All these factors represent clear goals, giving employees a sense of purpose and satisfaction when they meet these goals. For managers, they see a decrease in turnover and an increase in engagement because their staff feels that their career development is valued and supported. This reduces external hiring costs, as managers can see which staff are best suited to internal promotions or role changes. Overall, career path is a powerful tool that can be used to support organizational success on many levels.
