In this article, you'll learn more about:
What is Touchstone?
Touchstone is a flexible and easy-to-use tool for building assessments. Your employees and applicants can take these assessments so you can evaluate their progress or their ability to perform a job. With Touchstone, you can:
- Create and store reusable assessment questions.
- Build assessments that you can customize.
- Decide how you want questions to be scored on your assessment.
- Assign assessments to users who can see their results right away.
- View and share assessment data in reports.
How it works
Assessment questions are made by combining components from a toolbar (text, images, video, multiple choice, fill in the blanks, matching, and more) onto a canvas to create items. Instead of building every assessment from scratch, Touchstone allows you to store these items in a bank.
You'll always have access to the bank while you're creating an assessment so you can reuse the items you've created as assessment questions. You can also access the components toolbar while you're creating an assessment, but it's easier to use ready made items from your bank, especially for standard questions that you add to all of your assessments.
Managing assessments is seamless because you're given a blueprint of the layout. You can choose the number of pages and sort those pages into sections such as a Welcome section followed by the body of the assessment and a Summary at the end.
Keep track of how many test takers have completed your assessments in reports that can then be downloaded to multiple file formats for easy display and sharing.
Touchstone also integrates with CompetencyCore. This means you can associate your assessment questions to competencies. You can specify what score users need in order to show that they have a competency at a certain proficiency level. Once a user completes their assessment, their inventory in CompetencyCore will be updated with the results.
