Before you begin
An assessment is a series of questions often based on competencies that users can answer in order to evaluate their own performance or the performance of another user, such as a peer or report. Assessments are a tool to evaluate, retain, and support talent in your organization.
There are two types of assessments: in-depth and whole competency assessments.
In-depth assessments ask questions that are related to competencies and can be either grouped (all of the questions related to one competency appear on a page) or ungrouped (five questions appear per page regardless of the associated competency). A scale is associated to the competency so the user can select a scale level to rate the subject.
In a whole competency assessment (WCA), the competency itself is the question instead of questions related to a competency. When a user performs this type of assessment, they select a proficiency level to rate the subject.
Assessments can be associated to job profiles. Job profiles have associated competencies. If you associate an assessment to a job profile, questions associated to those competencies can be easily added. You can choose to add job-related questions or competencies when you edit the assessment.
In this article, you'll learn how to:
- Navigate assessments.
- Manage assessments.
- Create an assessment from a job profile.
Finding my way around
All of your assessments are stored on the Manage Assessments page. Click the menu icon on the top left corner of your screen. Click Assessments in the main menu and click Manage Assessments in the sidebar. Expand a group in the Jobs index and select a job profile see its associated assessments or select Unassigned Assessments.
You can see the name and description, the language the assessment is available in, the status, how many questions are included, and how many times it's been performed in the Instances column.
Point to the assessment gear icon to edit the assessment or to perform another action.
Create an assessment from a job profile
Click the menu icon on the top left corner of your screen. Click Job Profiles in the main menu. Expand a group in the index and select a job profile. You can click the assessment icon on the top right of the profile to create an assessment based on that job.
The Edit Assessment page opens so you can enter a name and description for the assessment. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see that the job is associated to the assessment and the assessment questions associated to the competencies on that job profile have already been added.
By default, this is an ungrouped assessment. To change it to a WCA, select that mode and click Save. The page refreshes and the individual competencies replace the list of questions.
